What Is a Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Like?
The procedure starts with the application of a topical anesthetic to numb the target area 30-45 minutes before the laser treatment. Then, Dr. Reichner will employ the MiXto SX® to deliver uniform laser pulses in a scanning pattern across the target areas. The pulses of light energy removes the thin layer of damaged skin on the surface, activating your body’s natural healing process. It boosts collagen production and ultimately leads to skin renewal.
The actual laser treatment only takes 15-20 minutes depending on the extent of the target area.
The Recovery Process
Unlike traditional laser treatments, the Mixto CO2 fractional laser procedure is minimally invasive which gives patients quicker recovery times. It requires lesser downtime and patients can go back to their normal routines after a week. Minor complications like redness, tenderness and swelling may occur.
Stay away from prolonged exposure to the sun, and regularly apply sunscreen. To ease the swelling and discomfort, you can apply ice packs or cold compresses to the treated area.
